HAMMIN' IT UP WITH BLOG HOG HAMILTON

When I think of peanuts, I naturally think of Pig-Pen from the Peanuts comic strip!  He made his first appearance in 1954, when he tells Patty, "I haven't got a name . .People just call me things . .Real insulting things."  Pig-Pen is known for his filthy overalls and the cloud of dirt and dust that follows him wherever he goes.  When he takes a deep breath (to sing, for example), the dust rises briefly around him.
On rare occasions, he has very briefly appeared clean; one time in order to impress Violet, and another time when he managed to keep one side of his body clean and presented this clean side to Patty, causing her to believe that he was completely clean.  On one instance when he was caught in a brief rainstorm and was washed clean, he said to Charlie Brown, "In one minute the rain has washed away what took me all day to accomplish."  There is one strip where he cleans himself up for a party, but the other Peanuts characters do not let him in because they do not recognize him!  Pig-Pen last appeared in the Peanuts comic strip on September 8, 1999.
Pig-Pen is very good at playing the drums, as shown in the special Play It Again, Charlie Brown.  He is also shown playing the double bass, notably in "A Charlie Brown Christmas."

Well, I'm putting pen to paper and write down a few jokes to tell your pals:

Q: Why did the fisherman put peanut butter into the sea?
A: To go with the jellyfish!

Q:  What kind of nuts always seem to have a cold?
A: Cashews!

Q:  How do you make a walnut laugh?
A:  You crack it up!

Q: What do you call a peanut in a spacesuit?
A: An astronut!

We were going to get down 'n dirty with the Pig Pen Hoedown, but the code must be clogged with dirt, so just go to youtube and watch it!  Here's a collage of Pig-Pen in all his glory!
